New groups guide to Ironbridge Gorge

New groups guide to Ironbridge Gorge New groups guide to Ironbridge Gorge
A new guide for groups visiting the Ironbridge Gorge Museums in Shropshire includes suggested itineraries as well as details on places to eat, hotel accommodation and special group rates available for the Christmas weekends at Blists Hill Victorian Town.

The guide also includes ideas for combined visits to other leading attractions in the West Midlands.
The ten indoor and outdoor museums at Ironbridge reflect a slice of the history of the Gorge, its people, their lifestyles and their work from the beginning of the Industrial Revolution in the early 1700s through to Victorian times over a hundred years later.

Step back in time at Blists Hill and chat to the Victorians in their homes, shops and places of work. Marvel at magnificent china and see crafts people at work in Coalport China Museum; walk through the gas-lit galleries and period room settings adorned with magnificent tiles at Jackfield Tile Museum then test your skills with the huge hands-on exhibits at the Enginuity design and technology centre. The Darby Houses were once home to the old ironmasters, while the Coalbrookdale Museum of Iron celebrates the early iron industry and the Museum of the Gorge explains the area’s importance.

Individual admission is available into any of the Museums at a discounted price for groups of 20-plus. Reduced rates for all-sites tickets are also available for groups following the same itinerary allowing entry into each of the ten sites over a six-day period.

There is free coach parking adjacent to the museum sites, group leaders and coach drivers are entitled to complimentary admission when accompanying a group, and coach drivers will be given a free refreshment voucher.

The Gorge is easily reached via the M6 and M54 motorways exiting at Telford (M54 junction 4 or 6).
